Transition between work and play

In keeping with the "Design Your Life" theme one of the comments was "strive to love your work and make the transition between work and play more seamless". Do I am attempting to do this.

I got a bit burnt out on sitting at in my studio for the past few weeks 7 days a week. (I know I need to take back my weekend!) But when you are creating you get absorbed and some how it feels right to just keep pushing. Well, I pushed and now I need a breather so I turned to knitting. But somehow this has frustrated me immensely! I have begun to knit socks which would put me in the "true knitter" category. I am also knitting this wrap sweater. I think it will be unique but it is LONG and I am hoping to see the end of the project by spring.
Since I have been in a abundant creative mode I went to the bookstore to search out an inspiring knitting design book. DEAD END AGAIN. ( I have been down this path many times just ask me what has been published.) Maybe it is me because I know what I like, I know how complicated I want my projects to be (not terribly) but I simply do not like what is offered.

About 6 months ago I was determined to write my own book, Hip Knits for the Lazy Knitter. It is actually more than that though. I actually wear my finished garments a lot.I have noticed most of my knitting friends do not. I am not a process knitter, I want to be mildly challenge but I do want a beautiful one of a kind garment. Organic, not fussy. I do not mind if it looks hand made, it is hand made and it is hand made especially for me. If I wanted to look like everyone else I would shop at the mall.

I know that I need to take the time to design my own knit wear since I am so largely dissatisfied with many patterns out there. I hesitate to say that. I have found many patterns I like usually on size 7 needles or smaller. My reality as an illustrator and designer is that I cannot dedicate too many hours to the hobby of knitting. Although I did find time to scroll through every single knitting book on Amazon.com (can you believe it?). I may have concluded the try my hand a machine knitting. The designer in me just needs to have a go at something different. And a bit quicker. I stumbled across this idea when reading a review for the book

Knitting by Sarah Dallas The reviewer said most designs in book are "loomed" because it simply would take to long to hand knit pieces for an entire book. THAT explains all the patterns with mistakes (hand knitters can never figure out why there are so many.)
Anyway this is an exceedingly long post for a frustrated knitter or maybe just a frustrated book buyer if you have thoughts on this I am very open to you in put!
